Local gym offers tips as New Years resolutions begin


LATHAM, NY (NEWS10) – With 2022 officially underway, many people will be looking to improve with New Year’s resolutions. One of the most common goals is to improve fitness and health, while Local gyms are gearing up to help everyone reach their goals for the New Year.

The start of a new year is always a busy time for gyms, “We’re seeing a good 10-15% increase in volume. A little more sales, but just regular use, at least 10-15% more use in January and February, ”said Matthew Doheny, CEO of ABC Sports & Fitness.

Like many others, the Latham Gymnasium is having New Years specials to try and take advantage of the rush of people hoping to start the year off on the right foot.

“You’re going to come in and get there and we’re going to have all the tools to get you to stick with that. We have the in-house personal trainers, the dieticians, we’ve got it all here to keep you on track to the right New Year’s resolution goals, ”Doheny explained.

Personal trainers also offered their advice on how to stay the course to ensure you reach your 2022 fitness goals: “Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. It takes time, as long as it takes you to get to where you are now, it takes time to where you want to be. Every day you have to keep working and persevere, ”said Kellianne Carr.

She points out that results at the gym take time, encouraging everyone to take it day to day: “Some days it’s going to be hard to show up, but show up, even if it’s only for 10 minutes, just to know that you still try me every day.
